Hello all,
We are setting up Oracle in a RAID 1+0 HP-UX environment. Oracle software
is on drive /u01. Naturally we could create a megahuge /u02 drive and dump
all database files into it due to RAID10. On the other hand, it makes sense
to create some logical mappings to separate data from indexes etc. for
better manageability down the road.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how to divide up disks in a logical way?
Is it better to have drive /u02 for data and /u03 for indexes or just to
create data and index folders on one drive. As far as disk activity is
concerned, it doesn't matter due to RAID10 (some exceptions like control/log
files, etc of course). What makes sense to administer logically?
RAID10 is a departure from what I'm used to. Comments anyone??
Muchas Gracias,
Ben
