Before doing 'startup nomount..' please set your oracle_sid first...
for instance:
You want to create a database called LAS_VEGAS
1. SET ORACLE_SID=LAS_VEGAS
2. sqlplus or svrmgrl and connect as internal or sys (as sysdba)
3. startup nomount...
4......
5....

Subject: 2 db ON 1 MACHINE
Hi gurus,
I have one database created on win-2000 advanced server. Now I want to
create one more database on the same machine. When I run the script it says
'startup nomount pfile .......' It says first shutdown the already running
instace.
If I create new database after shutting down the current one, will I be able
to run both db simultaneously? And client and connect to which ever db they
want?
How to do this? What all things I have to take care of? [services, new home
etc.......]
Lazy junior Dba.
