Hi,
To my point of view Core DBA should be able
to response against Dev DBA, this is because
when a response time accured Core DBA always
got blamed first. Please note before to tune
your database, application must be tuned first.
So an application dba is responsible for all
databases in which developers have access
as well as account creation.
His responsibilities are SQL tuning,
database design, in conjunction with the developers
and all changes to the application schema.
Core DBA is responsible for everything - capable
to response for all Requests (I mean able to
control Dev DBA and even sysadmin sometimes)
And his additional duties are :
- Security hardening
- health checks on production database
- production performance tuning as well
as application tuning if Dev DBA missed smthg.
- monitoring external data loads into
production database
- backups and recovery testing
- contingency testing
- documentation of all procedures
- space management on production systems,
- capacity planning and projection of growth
- change management etc ...
I am sure that I still missed somthing...
