Oracle/Sun Memory HELP!

Oracle/Sun Memory HELP!

Dear all,

I have a small database on a Sun Ultra 60 360Mhz which has 512mb RAM and double the Swap.

The database is oracle EE 8.1.7.3.0 32bit on Sun Solaris 8 (OS 5.8) 64bit.

My SGA is ;

Total System Global Area 81399968 bytes
Fixed Size 73888 bytes
Variable Size 55021568 bytes
Database Buffers 26214400 bytes
Redo Buffers 90112 bytes

and all is well with my Ratio's however the database is running like a dog!!

I have 1 user connected

I have run prstat -a and found that the oracle is using the following;

NPROC USERNAME SIZE RSS MEMORY TIME CPU
16 oracle 929M 724M 88% 0:00.46 1.4%

After a system reboot the memory usage is;

NPROC USERNAME SIZE RSS MEMORY TIME CPU
9 oracle 803M 624M 88% 0:00.18 0.2%

Why is Oracle using so much Memory???

I did notice in the alert.log from two weeks ago an ORA-0600 Space Leak is there a problem with Patch 8.1.7.3.0 ??
