Hi !
With regards to TAF (Transparent Failover) which you do
it in the listener Configuration.
1. Standy Database can be configured for TAF.
2. When the Primary DB fails client application will be automatically
failed over to satndby. But during the time of failover when any
DML statements except the SELECT statements are executed,
that state has to be handled in the application. Or maybe the
statements may get lost.
3. Then the client can proceed without any manual intervention.
