Did several successful migrations 7.3 to 816 on Solaris, prefer the mig
asst. exp/imp would have taken too long in my case, 100+ GB databases
involved. Had no problems at all, but I followed the metalink docs
closely and tested it several times on a test server, as the window was
critical for us. BTW, the best 7 to 8 hint (from the docs) is to alter
data, index tablespaces offline before the migration so it takes less
time; when all is migrated, alter them back online and do something that
will touch each row (and update the row format), like analyze compute.

Subject: 7 to 8 migration
Does anyone have a preference, migration assistant, migration utility,
or
import/export.
And why?
Thanks.
Jerry
