try > lsnrctl status
to see if listener is really up. Database up does not mean listener is up.
to start listener > lsnrctl start

Subject: Installing Oracle 9iAS on AIX 4.3.3 based IBM RS 6000

Hi DBA's

We are setting up Oracle 8i Database and Oracle 9i Application Server on the
same machine. Our machine is IBM RS6000 which is AIX 4.3.3 installed on it
and have 512MB RAM.
But installation fails and it says that it can't findout the tnslistener,
but on the other hand database is up running.
Can you kindly guide me to set ORACLE_HOME and other environment variables
for this type of situation.
Thank in advance.

Thilina
