Yes the Header Is freezen so that there is No Checkpointing Happening to the
Datafiles in the tablespace.

The same goes with the Backup mode Tablespaces also ...

Thanks for your reply.

Actually i know this that offline can't be accessed while Backup can be.

Also to put Tablespace in backup mode , DB should be in archivelog mode.

But the Question is what oracle does internally to make it happen so ?

I remember somewhere that it Freezes the header of datafile or something
like that..

Can you take me further?
