Try this:
add DNS entry of Sun database machine in the JDBC client.
Find the "hosts" file in your windows 2000 machine and add
ipaddress machinename machinename.domain
exmaple:
if you database is PIGSY(10.160.1.3) and its domain is ORACLE.COM
then add
10.160.1.3 PIGSY PIGSY.ORACLE.COM

Where is the database installed(Unix or Windows) ??
Where is the JDBC client installed(Unix or Windows) ??
