Subject: strt<sid>.cmd file for 8i and 9i?

I changed the internal password for all instances in the listed versions
(save 9i obviously, changed sys password). subsequently, my instances no
longer started automatically when the server is rebooted. for 805, this was
fixed by changing the internal password in the strt<sid>.cmd file, but how
can I fix this for my 8i and 9i instances? registry setting?
