Alok, thanks for the reply. Do you know of any other option besides using
oradim (sorry, forgot to mention that)..no particular reason for not using

I changed the internal password for all instances in the listed versions
(save 9i obviously, changed sys password). subsequently, my instances no
longer started automatically when the server is rebooted. for 805, this was
fixed by changing the internal password in the strt<sid>.cmd file, but how
can I fix this for my 8i and 9i instances? registry setting?
