Hi all,
Brief Background: Cognos suite of products are being used to provide a
BI solution for the client.
DB - Oracle 9i running on HP UNIX. User information is stored in a LDAP
store provided by Cognos.
Cognos uses Access Manager to store the details in the LDAP residing in
Netscape Directory Service
The user would enter the user name and password at the time of accessing
the Cognos application.
The reports would then connect to the DB and access the data. The solution
that is looked by
the client is that at the time of connecting to the cognos, the same user
information must be used to
connect to Oracle. The user must not be prompted for the user information
as he has logged on already.
Question:This means that the user needs to be externally authenticated to
access the Oracle database.
(kind of a single sign on approach). It is possible for Oracle to have the
user information in LDAP, but this uses the Oracle Internet Directory.
Would it be possible for Oracle to use an LDAP store with a DIT structure
of that of Cognos
Thanks & Regards,
