Look like the background process for database writer could not start for
the instance. Shutdown abort and look at your disk problem again.

Trying to bring up a couple of databases (8i AIX 4.3) after a disk
problem we get this error:

ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

In the alert we got this error:

DBW0: terminating instance due to error 204
Instance terminated by DBW0, pid = 282592
