Thanks a lot Bart.
Finally we were able to bring up the databases. Apparently, when they
imported the volume group, the owner of the raw devices was changed to root
by the system and the oracle user could not opened them.
Still is a mistery the cause of the problem but we are bouncing the server
because it looks that still there is some corruption.
Thanks.
Pepe

Useful questions:
Search for all "ORA-" in alert.log
Is there a trace file for that process in UDUMP ? it might give you more
info.
Are you able to startup nomount ?
Are you able to mount your database without opening it ?
this might narrow down your search,

HELP!
Trying to bring up a couple of databases (8i AIX 4.3) after a disk problem
we get this error:
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
In the alert we got this error:
DBW0: terminating instance due to error 204
Instance terminated by DBW0, pid = 282592
Thanks.
