Well, it still belongs to a tablespace.. Until you can resolve that that file is NOT part of that tablespace...you cannot get rid of entirely...

Hello all,

I'm trying to drop a datafile on the Oracle 8.1.7.4 on the Unix OS.

I did the following:

ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE 'path/datafilename' OFFLINE DROP;

It informed me the command was successful.

So, I than went to the OS and physically removed the datafile.

Now I see it is in recovery mode and will not let me remove it from Oracle.

Anybody every have this problem?
