Does any one know what does OCI_ATTR_DIRPATH_INPUT mean?

This is an attribute that can be set on a Direct Path Context handle.
The sample code comments says "set the data input type to be text".

Does this mean that we can only input text data, or does all non-text data
(such as SQLT_FLT) have to be converted to text?
