Database will do crash recovery automatically after shutdown abort. What error message you are getting when you restart the database? If it says any files need recovery, you can recover them and open the database.

I am having a problem with restarting an instance. It seems my network
manager tried to backup an instance without shutting it down first. He
then went in and shut it down abort. Looking at a trace file I see that
the following waiting for smon to disable tx recovery. Can anyone help me with this problem?
