I believe you have to put 'using backup controlfile' in the recover
database until cancel statement to make it work.

Copy all the files to the corresponding locations on a diff server.

Then perform

SVRMGRL> recover database until cancel;

When it asks for that log, type:

SVRMGRL> cancel;

Then:

SVRMGRL> Alter database open resetlogs;

Say I have complete hotbackup copies of all data files and archived log
files. And Control file has been obtained from the statement 'Alter datbase
backup controlfile to trace;'. Now I do not have any redo log files, how
can
I restore and recover the DB to a different server?
