RE: recover database

RE: recover database

You will need a copy of the controlfile that was created from 'alter
database backup controlfile to '<BackupControlFilename>'. This will be
copied as the controlfile(s) for the database to be recovered. So that
recovery could be performed as 'recover database using backup controlfile
until cancel'. If you do not have such a 'backup controlfile' then I do not
know how you can recover the DB on a different server with all the files you
have got.

Also, it would be a very good idea to buy 'Backup and Recovery Handbook' by
Rama Velpuri published by Oracle Press. It has all kinds of examples dealing
with various recovery scenarios.

HTH,

Regards.
