Traditionally, only export/import is form of backup which can be ported
across platform. I would say, give it a shot or confirm it with oracle
support. Don't do it even if are able to without 'go' from oracle support
because of unforeseen problems. Let us also know of the outcome.

Subject: Restore to Linux from Solaris backup?
I have an RMAN question.
Is it possible to restore a database to Red Hat Linux using a backup taken
on Solaris? I'm thinking that the answer is no. Does anyone have any
experience with this? I know that you cannot restore to windows from a
backup taken on a unix platform. Is the same true going between Solaris and
Linux?
Thanks!
