You need either an xwindow application like Exceed from Hummingbird
installed on your pc, or get on the internet for any freeware xwindow
application. Open up a ssh/terminal session with your database server on
your pc, and at the prompt run $export DISPLAY='your_pc_ip_address':0.0
and enter.
Ex. $export DISPLAY=192.168.0.1:0.0
When you start up ./runInstaller or ./dbca the gui will be displayed on
your screen.
If you also got a Linux box on your network you could do the same - Will
guide you on how that's done if you got one.

Hello,
I am installing 9.2.0.3. Thought to make it simple, I
chose 'General Purpose'. The installation went well
and create a database by default. However, I probably
have far more than what I need (all I need is Oracle
with a database), things like http, apache, etc. When
I do ps -ef|grep oracle, there seem too many jobs
running by defaut and I have to kill all the jobs to
clear up oracle process.
Should I choose 'Software Only' instead? Where can I
find sample of creating database/tablespace scripts to
create database manually?
I really appreciate your input.
