You need to apply all the incremental backups unless they are cumulative incremental backups. Incase of cumulative incremental backup you need to only last cumulative backup.

I am implementing new backup and recovery process using RMAN on oracle 8.1.7 and wanted to verify few things from you. Below is the plan that I would like to use.

Sunday: Full- Level 0 backup
Monday to Saturday: Incremental - level 0 backup.

Now my question is:
If I need to recover database say on Friday then would I need full backup level0 (Sunday) and only last night level1 (Thursday) backup or all level1 backups since Monday.

Can you please advise?
