Are you on Win 2000? -If you are , maybe it has something to do with regional settings. It have to be set two places. In the first window on regional settings and pres the "set default" buton and set it there as well
You can try to set nls_lang on the top level of hkey_local_mashine\software\oracle ??
Have you restarted the server after changing registry? MS claims you do not have to , but you know.....
Hope this help!!

Subject: SV: Question Reg. NLS_LANGUAGE
Go to regedit, hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\home?\nls_lang - Locate where it says America_american. Change it to German_American. Then you will have systemmessages in german Second question !!! why do you want that - Metalink and oracle support requiers english. I have tried to translate them back to english from norwegian -it is not easy. I suppose it is not easier from german.

Hi Tamizh,
Pls try this..Am not sure..
Please check your database characterset & national character set..What's ur current NLS_LANGUAGE & NLS_TERRITORY?..I think this will have an impact...
If am wrong, someone pls corect me..! If you need the system's response to be in German, there may be some other settings.
-Thanks!

Hi Gurus,
When I say
SQL> ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE=german;
System altered.
But manual says
SQL> ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE=german;
Session wurde geändert.
