Hello DBAs,
I was wondering if you could let me know what level of testing you
require of your users and developers for patch upgrades. We want to
upgrade from 9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.4 ... I can see that there are roughly
1500 bug fixes with this patch. Here is an excerpt from the patch notes:
============
Patch sets are a mechanism for delivering fully tested and integrated
product fixes on a regular basis. Patch sets provide bug fixes only;
they do not include new functionality, and do not require certification
on the target system.
Patch sets include all the libraries that have been rebuilt to implement
the bug fixes in the set. All the fixes in the patch set have been
tested and are certified to work with each other. Because the patch set
includes only low impact patches, it does not require you to certify
applications or tools against the server.
============
Should I trust Oracle and only require user/developer testing for
database release upgrades like 9i to 10g? What do you folks do?
Thank you!
