Automatic tuning requires that workarea_size_policy = auto and
Pga_aggregate_target to be set.

If workarea_size_policy is set to manual then *_area_size parameters are
used regardless of Pga_aggregate_target...

Finally to respond your question the answer is: Automatic tuning
(workarea_size_policy and Pga_aggregate_target)

I have a customer running with both sort_area and workarea_size_policy
set to Auto in init.ora. They have also set Pga_aggregate_target

What will Oracle use -Will this confuse oracle or will it work badly????
