Hi,

I have a paper on my site that describes 11 ways to set trace in an
Oracle database, either in your session, in another session or at
instance level. It also distinguishes which methods can be used to set
trace levels. I think your issue would be that you need to be logged on
as SYS to access this package. My paper is available at:
