I would install them both under oracle and configure the 9i listener to run
all the databases and stop using the 8i listener.

I'm going to begin installing the 9i binaries on an AIX box that already
has 2 8.1.7.4 instances running.

I'm going to install with a different userid than the 8i install i.e.
oracle -> 8.1.7.4 and orcle -> 9.2.0.4. Are there any gotcha's I should
be looking out for? I'm going to put the 9i listener on a different
port, so it doesn't interfere with the 8.1.7.4 listener for instance.
