Re: installing 9i with 8i already installed

I have 4 different versions of oracle on my AIX boxes here at Princess. On
one of my boxes I changed the userid, but on the other they all run as
oracle so it works both ways. Remember that if you want to change the
group that oracle belongs to for each version you have to modify the
"config.s" file in $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib directory and then relink your
oracle.

One requirement for having different versions is that each version must
have it's own ORACLE_HOME and each listener will need's its own port.

DBAs

I'm going to begin installing the 9i binaries on an AIX box that already
has 2 8.1.7.4 instances running.

I'm going to install with a different userid than the 8i install i.e.
oracle -> 8.1.7.4 and orcle -> 9.2.0.4. Are there any gotcha's I should
be looking out for? I'm going to put the 9i listener on a different
port, so it doesn't interfere with the 8.1.7.4 listener for instance.

Thnx.
mike
