RE: Oracle 9i memory allocation on 2000

Yes 8M does sound too much...

Bcos the The Buffer is Flushed when it Reaches 1MB so if you feel that
the Flushing is going to Take Too Long u can set it to be 3MB so that
LogBuffer Space waits are avoided.. But 8MB is a Overkill.

As Regards the Memory .. If you have Space available to hold More SGA be
Happy to Give More to Oracle... The More u give the Better it works...

But there is a Limit there.. So keep in mind the Server Process also ..

HTH

Does 8MB for redo_log_buffer seem excessive
Also
db_block_size = 16384
db_file_multiblock_read_count = 64
db_keep_cache_size = 150M
db_cache_size = 900M
java_pool_size = 64M
shared_pool_reserved_size = 32M
shared_pool_size = 160M

At what point does too much memory become a hinderance if any

Thanks
