just about everyone checks references these days. It doesn't cost anything.
You can't pass for someone with 5 years experience(who is any good) if you
have none. Five years is the requirement these days to even get an
interview. So you did this on your own? You didn't waste any money paying
some worthless company did you?

There are no entry level DBA jobs. The market is shrinking in the west.
There will be less DBA jobs in the US in 5 years than there are today if
jobs keep going offshore.
