No you can't judge what is dummy for the whole list, but you should be able
to expect a certain amount of work on behalf of the questioner in attempt to
resolve an issue themselves.
The list seems to get used as a knowledge base/first place to look instead
of the last place to look when you have exhausted the freely available
options.
For instance, I have a chained rows problem in one of my tables, I wanted to
know at what level the 'alter table move tablespace' command would solve it
or if I have to do it using another method, it would be much easier for me
if the move worked because I am re-organising datafiles and tablespace
granularity.
Did I post on here asking if anyone knows?
No, after inconclusive web/book searches I've decided to do it for myself on
a test system and find out.

Fully Agree with Yavor.
Learning is incremental process and even our response to crisis get matured
as we learn more.
So for new Bee Small crisis could look bigger than they cud look to expert.
and sometime we r really pressed to
give result in short time.
That time there is no harm in asking experts if someone is willing to ans.

time on everyone's part. I personally feel that the forum should be used as
the last resort after all other avenues like
Documentation/Metalink/Google/OTN have been exhausted. There is a plus when
you exhaust all these channels and that is - you tend to never forget the
problem and the solution.
