Then consider replication as good option as well.
Would this be a heavily used database? If so, then consider that performance
may be impacted by the replication process, but overall this would be a ways
to also have a duplicate database, good for redundancy and all!
Hope this helps!

Jose,
The new server is identical to the old one. No modifications will be
made to DB objects on either box.
Only DATA needs to be updated to the new environment, nothing else.

Hi Kevin,
This could work too, but only if they are not making changes on the
database
objects; any object being modified will not be able to be replicated, at
least not easily. That being said, where are they making the changes?
From the statement made, it sounds like they are making last minute
modifications to the old database prior to migrating it to the new
server.
It all depends on what they are modifying. If it is code outside of SQL
then Replication would also work.
Thank you,
Jose Ramirez

Why not set up replication between the 2 servers? If you can have both
online at the same time, replicate the old server to the new server. It
will be ready to go instantly.

Subject: Synchronizing Data
Hi,
I have two SQL servers with identical environments. One is the new
machine
and the other is our old box which will be disappearing soon enough.
My problem is that our customers will be using the older environment
until
the developers have made all the necessary changes in their code to make
the
switch to the new environment.
When they do... the data on the new machine will be several days old.
How can I synchronize the data on the new machine, with the old machine
so
that the new environment is current?
Many of the tables have FK constraints so I need to account for this.
Should I write a script or use a wizard?
Any help, ideas would be great.
Thanks!
