FW: _SUSPECT: Problem with Copy Database Wizard

Hi Ronald,

If you want to migratie your database I believe that it is better to take a backup on you old system and then restore to your new system.
You can also detach your database and copy the physical files from the old to the new system. After the copy you can attach your database to the new system. Detach -> copy -> attach is faster than backup -> copy - > restore.

Subject: _SUSPECT: Problem with Copy Database Wizard

We have two Windows 2000 boxes with SQL Server 2000 loaded on both. We
want to migrate a database from the old system to the new system. We
have created a user on each of the systems with administrator rights to
the box and sysadmin to the SQL Server. When we try to do the migration
using the Copy Database Wizard it fails on the copying file step. It
returns a generic error stating that The copy failed. There is no
further explanation.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks
Don Bricker
