If I create a maintenance plan, for backing up the database and it's
transactional logs, I am not able to choose filename convention nor
formatting.

Is there anyway around this?

Wizards are good in a way but to understand what this one is doing would be
more than I am bargaining for.

Now on differential backups, how do I create fit them in to my backup
scheme?
