Data & Log File Sizes in SQL Server 2000

Data Divas,

In Enterprise Manager the database properties dialogue has tabs for Data Files and Transaction Log. Both of these show the same File Properties options and allow 'Automatically Grow File'. Assume this is ticked and on the right the 'Unrestricted file growth' button is selected in 'Maximum file size' so the 'Restrict file growth' figure is greyed out. On the left does the figure (in MB or %) for 'File growth', which is not greyed out, still have any effect? If so, what?

Thanks
Mark J. Fleming
