Yes, even on a new server you can install a named instance. You don't need
a base instance first if you don't want one.

As long as you have the Band Width between the Source and Dest. SQL
Servers and no down throttling on your ntwk, you could quickly setup Log
Shipping thru the DB Maint. Wizard.
