That's correct. Dynamic SQL is generally slower than Stored procs.

Subject: Performance issue - am I correct
I have recently "inherited" a database from another part of the business
and have been tasked with re-writing it.
In several places, DTS packages use VB executables for fairly straight
forwards SQL statements.
My main concern is that of Performance . I have tried running the code
from the .exe and QA on the only data I have - roughly a tenth of the
usual load and there appears to be an adverse impact when running the
.exe
Am I correct that an executable will have poorer performance over the
same code run via a stored procedure?
Thanks in advance
Stuart
