It's harmless enough. Just eats up network bandwidth. It exploits a security
loophole that has been well-advertised since July.

Quick fix, for those who have machines with SS2000 SP2, like me (and who are
scared of breaking production apps by installing the full SP3 without
testing it first :)

Q323875_SQL2000_SP2_en.EXE

This is a hot-fix which updates only Ssnetlib.dll -- which is apparently
enough to secure against the Slammer worm.

Of course, you won't find it on the Microsoft web site... that would be too
easy!
