RE: 1.7 GB memory

RE: 1.7 GB memory

Hi Kevin,
What is the os you are using?
Is the Os able to see all the memory.

In case of Winnt you have to set the option
/3Gb/FastDetect in the Boot.ini and reboot the system.

Set the sql server memeory to dynamic and set the sql server memory to
(total memory)-X mb
Where X Mb is the approximate memory which any other process on the server
can use.

I am unable to get SQLServer to use more than the default 1.7GB memory.
The machine has 4GB of RAM but I am getting insufficient memory errors
for SQL Server and when I check task manager the machine is only using
just over 1.8GB and SQLServer is using 1.7GB
