Thanks for your suggestions yesterday on copying our PROD DB from one server to another.
We used used the detach-copy-attach method and it worked perfectly.

However:
I had a number of users whose default DB was PROD before the operation who now
have DC (first alphabetically) as their default DB. Subsequently fixed, but something
to be aware of in the future.
