Yes Jim and they are a pain in the a$s
Veritas Backup exec, our Firewall software and such installs MSDE, in
some cases the vendor product does not give an option but MSDE. So you
have to include this in your monitoring for log size, space size and
such....
Normally these databases are not large but the firewall software we use
stores all activity of incoming/outcoming and can grow quite large. The
problem is on the DBA side you do not have all full features like you
would if it was a normal SQL instance
