We have faced similar problem
Use Domain account for agent as well, it should work

Things to consider
1- Schedule a Job rather then run manually. Because when it runs it uses
Agent domain account on server, if you are running Enterprise manager to
connect SQL SERVER (Another Machine) then you might get error.

2- Schedule a Job

3-For manual run, Login into Server (RDC, VNC, whatsoever) and then run
directly from server.

Hi all,
I still get the same error, i given the nt authority rights but still
the jobs cannot run, the startup account for sql agents is syem acount,
while for sql server is 'startup' domain acount.
below is the error description.

please help me.

"Executed as user: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE
42000] (Error 22029). The step failed."
