I'm guessing (without seeing the code that is running) that it is not a
permissions issue.
It's that you have on the Integrity tab 'attempt to repair any minor
problems' checked. If you look at the actual log, you'd see that SQL
Server could not put the DB in Single User mode and thus that step
failed.
Try un-checking that box and see what happens.
