RE: SQL Mail/Agent Question

RE: SQL Mail/Agent Question

You must install the Outlook Client (exchange client, not server) on the SQL
box in order to take advantage of SQL Mail/SQL Server Agent.

Subject: SQL Mail/Agent Question

Trying to get SQL Mail/Agent to work using Exchange.
Does Exchange need to be installed on the SQL box or can Exchange reside on
the domain?
I ask this because all documentation I have says Exchange must be installed
on the SQL Server,
However I can't see this being the case. I have attempted to connect to
Exchange server from the SQL server
But when I use xp_test_mapi_profile @user = 'ServiceAccount' I get:
"Failed with Mail Error: 0x80004005."
I have an email account (ServiceAccount) on the SQL box which sends and
receives mail just fine.
Any Advise.
Thanks.
