As far as I know, SQL Server cannot audit the SELECT event using a trigger, just update, insert and delete. You might be able to concoct something using profiler though.

Hi,
I want to implement auditing for one of the databases on our sql server 2000 installation. This particular database is a read only database so I'm interested in logging every select, by every user with the 'public' database role.
I've considered using a trigger but Isn't there an easier way? Does SQL Server 2000 have a standard utility for doing this?
thanks ahead of time,
Marc
