I asume you are talking about Microsoft SQL Server on SUN x64 Hardware
with Windows 2003 Server OS
clustered with Microsoft Cluster Service ...
In a failover case the SQL Server Service on Node 1 will be stopped and
the Disk Drives containing the Data will be switched to Node 2.
Then the SQL Server Service will be started on Node 2.
If you are not configuring a processor mask SQL Server will use
dynamically as many processors and memory as are available on the Node.
So no problem with that.

Failover Cluster
We are planning to implement a new failover cluster to replace the
existing
cluster. New new boxes are Sun with sixteen processor with thirty two gig
of ram. Because we are trying to avoid waste, the second node will be
virtualized which will leave the failover portion with only four procs and
eight gig of ram. For emergency situations, this will be sufficient.
However, I donšt know how SQL Server will react to losing twelve procs and
twenty four gig during the failover. Will the failover work or will it
cause server confusion?
