Has anyone tried to run the "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components for
SQL Server 2005" on a 64 bit (non-Itanium) box? Have you tried to run it
on WOW64 subsystem?
The April 2006 build of the "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components for
SQL Server 2005" works on a 32 bit box running SQL Server 2005 - allowing
both editing and running of DTS packages that you import from 2000
(assuming the DTS package name coming over from 2000 meets the new naming
criteria).
It would be nice to port over the DTS packages to a 64 bit box and convert
them to SSIS over time instead of all at once. But if it's not possible
that's OK.
Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Tom Holden

RE: ODBC driver for 2005
Good question. We were told by MS that ODBC is going away and Native
Client is what they want us to use.
They don't even make a 64bit ODBC driver which caused us many issues for
some of our linkservers(especially Sybase). Can't even find one that
works from a 3rd party vendor.
Thanks,
Ralph W. Davis

Subject: ODBC driver for 2005
Quick question, for those that installed SQL Client Tools for 2005 on a
workstation, when you do an ODBC connection (Control Panel/
Administration Tools) there are two for SQL server.
SQL Native Client which has a version of 2005-xxx
SQL Server which has a version of 2000-xxx
If you launch SQL Native Client its splash screen is SQL 2005 but the
connectivity doesn't appear the same as the SQL Server Driver.
1. What is Native Client used for?
2. Did SQL 2005 to anyone's knowledge update the SQLSRV32.DLL for
ODBC connectivity?
Thanks have an ERP migration problem and trying to narrow down if it is
the vendor or our connectivity.
Jeff
