RE: ODBC driver for 2005

The SQL Native client is pretty much the 2000 Network Client Utility,
only more complicated and even less intuitive. But, then, I'm in a bad
mood today. But I did use it to re-register an alias to a 2005 server
that got renamed. I get to it via SQL Configuration Manager tool.

Subject: ODBC driver for 2005

Quick question, for those that installed SQL Client Tools for 2005 on a
workstation, when you do an ODBC connection (Control Panel/
Administration Tools) there are two for SQL server.

SQL Native Client which has a version of 2005-xxx

SQL Server which has a version of 2000-xxx

If you launch SQL Native Client its splash screen is SQL 2005 but the
connectivity doesn't appear the same as the SQL Server Driver.

1. What is Native Client used for?

2. Did SQL 2005 to anyone's knowledge update the SQLSRV32.DLL for
ODBC connectivity?

Thanks have an ERP migration problem and trying to narrow down if it is
the vendor or our connectivity.
