I have seen this also, intermittently. Check the version/service packs on
both boxes. You may also want to try restarting the MS DTC service for
both. I haven't found anything that resolves this specific issue. It seems
to go away on its own.
The very first time I saw this problem, I was trying to run a distributed
transaction between a workstation and a server. The Win2K workstation seems
to be missing something that the DTC needs.
Hope this helps.

Subject: New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction
coordinator
Hi All,
I have a linked server connection setup from server A to server B. I am able
to select and delete records on server B from server A using this
connection, but, when i attempt to insert a record I get the following error
message. I'm running 2000 on both boxes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Server: Msg 7391, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB'
was unable to begin a distributed transaction.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: New transaction cannot enlist in the
specified transaction coordinator. ]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'SQLOLEDB'
ITransactionJoin::JoinTransaction returned 0x8004d00a].
Thank you,
Elecia
