Please be aware that we just discovered a serious problem concerning
database maintenance plans in SP2.
If you have a sql server 2005 maintenance plan that includes a history
cleanup task or a maintenance cleanup task, then, after sp2 is
installed, files will be deleted more frequently than the user specified
when he created the plan. This could lead to a situation where a backup
was deleted before the next backup was invoked.
We are working on a GDR (mandatory QFE) that will be available within
days to fix this bug
In the meantime, if you use database maintenance plans you should check
your deletion policies to ensure your backups are not accidentally
getting deleted before the next backup occurs. You can fix this
manually.
If you don't use DB maintenance plans, you are not impacted by this
issue.
